Videographic: Wage Changes In Singapore, 2013

Amid the tight labour market and improved economic conditions, total wages rose faster in 2013 than the year before, driven largely by a strong increase in basic wages as bonuses rose slightly. Coupled with lower inflation, both total and basic wages rose in real terms, reversing the declines in 2012. More employers adopted the National Wages Council’s recommendation to give built-in wage increase to low-wage employees earning basic monthly salary of up to $1,000.
