For release: 7 April 2025
Unemployment rates remained generally stable in February 2025 (overall: 2.0%; resident: 2.9%; citizen: 3.1%). They also stayed within the usual range seen during non-recessionary periods. There were 70,800 unemployed residents1, of which 63,000 were citizens in February 2025.2,3
Supported by continued economic expansion and a tight labour market, unemployment rates are likely to remain stable in the near term. However, potential downside risks from trade tensions could cause some disruption to the unemployment situation.
