Source and Coverage
Information on retrenched resident workers is obtained from the quarterly Labour Market Survey. The status of re-entry into employment of these workers is tracked using administrative records. Hence, it does not capture retrenched workers who went into self or informal employment or undergo training while looking for job.
Before 2007, data pertained to residents retrenched by private sector establishments each with at least 25 employees. From 2007 onwards, data also include residents retrenched from the public sector. With effect from the first quarter of 2010, the coverage is further expanded to include employees on term contracts who were terminated prematurely because of redundancy.
