Unemployment

Unemployment statistics is probably one of the most closely monitored indicators of the labour market.

Persons are counted as unemployed, if they are not working, but are actively looking and available for work.

The unemployment rate refers to the unemployed as a percentage of the economically active population (also known as the labour force).
