Report: Labour Market Advance Release Third Quarter 2026
Released on: 30/10/2026 10:30 AM

Report: Labour Market Advance Release Second Quarter 2025

KEY FINDINGS

Advance estimates showed that Singapore's labour market continued to expand in 3Q 2026, with both resident and non-resident employment growing faster than in the previous quarter. Unemployment remained broadly stable, with the overall rate unchanged at 2.0%, while resident and citizen unemployment rates edged up slightly. Retrenchments edged up, though the incidence of retrenchment was unchanged. They remained elevated mainly in selected outward-oriented sectors, while business reorganisation continued to be the main driver of retrenchments. Forward-looking indicators were mixed in September. Hiring and wage expectations improved but remained below July's levels, and the share of firms expecting to retrench edged up. This suggests that firms remained selective in their hiring and wage plans amid continued uncertainty.
