Unemployment rates dipped in August 2021,(overall: from 2.8% to 2.7%; resident: from 3.7% to 3.6%; citizen: from 3.9% to 3.8%), following an increase in July 2021 which reflected the temporary easing of manpower demand during the Phase 2 (Heightened Alert). There has been a general downtrend in unemployment rates since it peaked in September 2020. ​​84,400 residents1 were unemployed in August 2021, including 75,800 citizens.2,3
