Monthly Unemployment Situation – November 2022

For release: 9 January 2023

Unemployment rates remained low and held steady at pre-COVID levels in November 2022 (overall: 1.9%; resident: 2.8%; citizen: 2.9%).1 There were 65,700 residents2 unemployed in November 2022, of which 58,800 were citizens.3, 4

As the labour market remains tight, we expect the resident unemployment situation to hold steady. Nonetheless, short-term fluctuations can be expected as unemployment rates have reached a steady state. These are likely to be frictional in nature, reflecting voluntary movements in and out of jobs, and the labour force.
