Monthly Unemployment Situation – August 2022

Unemployment rates declined further and remained low in August 2022 (overall: 1.9%; resident: 2.7%; citizen: 2.8%). There were 64,800 residents1 unemployed in August 2022, of which 57,600 were citizens.2, 3
While unemployment rates are currently lower than pre-pandemic levels4, the increased risk of a slowdown amidst contraction of manufacturing activity, soaring inflation and interest rate hikes could dampen labour market activity.
