The 2-day meeting hosted by M​RSD ​from 8 – 9 May as part of the NLO-World Bank 2023 Study Tours Program was a great success! It was an honour to have the statisticians and analysts from the World Bank, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s National Labour Observatory (NLO) and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD), over with us. ​​

From knowledge exchange to discussing future research collaboration opportunities, the aim of the meeting lies in strengthening international ties between the agencies by learning from one another’s data processes and best practices.

We began the conference with a presentation by some of our subject specialists to outline the Department’s statistical production processes, data products, and outreach initiatives. It was a meaningful exposure for all, and an engaging Q&A session was included to address questions from our delegates. Overall, the meeting facilitated insightful discussions among the different teams, fostering interest in future collaborations and joint studies.

The next day, a spontaneous small-group meeting with Workforce Singapore (WSG) was set up. As some of the delegates expressed keen interest in Singapore’s career matching and coaching services, it was a good opportunity for them to find out more from our WSG team. They were especially interested in learning how WSG translates relevant data on job vacancies into meaningful insights to enhance their service platforms for both businesses and job seekers.

Ultimately, this exchange provided a platform that established the foundation for trust and continued learning from one another, making it a terrific opportunity for us to develop and bolster professional ties with our global counterparts. We look forward to meeting them again!​​
