AWS Summit Singapore 2026

At the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Summit Singapore 2026, the Ministry of Manpower’s Manpower Research and Statistics Department (MRSD) shared how technological advancements are transforming our data collection processes, while reinforcing the importance of trust, accuracy, and human expertise.

Data is central to shaping manpower policies and programmes that empower and uplift our workforce — and reliable, efficient, and consistent data collection remains crucial to achieving high-quality data. We took the opportunity at AWS Summit Singapore to showcase how cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are helping modernise and strengthen our data collection processes.

Lim Guang Liang, Business Analyst (Application Management) from MRSD, joined Lili Chan from AWS for a sharing session that explored how emerging technologies are being integrated into operational workflows to improve operational efficiency, visibility, and officer support. The session highlighted MRSD’s ongoing efforts to harness innovation in ways that enhance both operational effectiveness and the overall respondent experience.

A key focus of our sharing was how AI-enabled capabilities are being embedded into data collection processes to better support officers in their day-to-day work. AI-enabled tools assist officers by surfacing relevant information, providing deeper contextual insights, and helping anticipate respondent needs. This enables officers to engage respondents more effectively and respond with greater confidence, consistency, and accuracy.

The adoption of cloud technologies also strengthens operational resilience and visibility across workflows, allowing teams to better monitor processes, streamline coordination, and respond more quickly to evolving needs. By leveraging scalable and secure digital infrastructure, MRSD is able to build a more agile and responsive data collection ecosystem that can support future demands.

Importantly, the session underscored that while technology plays an increasingly significant role, the expertise, empathy, and contextual judgement of officers remain central to MRSD’s work. Human engagement continues to be critical in building trust with respondents, understanding nuanced situations, and ensuring that data collected remains meaningful and reliable.

Our sharing at AWS Summit Singapore 2026 reaffirms MRSD’s commitment to continuous innovation as Singapore’s manpower landscape continues to evolve, and highlights how the effective implementation of technology in the workplace can help strengthen and support our workforce.
